Parents do various things to increase the height of their children. Encouraged to hang on, someone asked to cycle again. Does this increase the height of the child? What does science say?
Regular cycling is great exercise for lower-body muscles and bones. Such exercises accelerate the growth of this part. As a result, the child may become taller due to cycling.
However, we want the proper nutrition of the child along with it, said Shamsun Nahar, Professor of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University. Apart from this, there are genetic factors behind being tall or short.
Good cycling habits
It is better to teach a child to ride a bicycle at the age of 4–5 years. You can develop the habit of cycling for at least 30 minutes every day. In this way, there is a possibility of growing up to the age of 18. If there is not enough space for cycling, stationary bicycles can also be used.
More forms of exercise
- You can arrange for the baby to hang for 5 to 10 minutes every day.
- Allow the child to run around. Play with children of the same age. Parents can also join. Let the child’s time be spent cheerfully at home or outside.
- The parent can take the child along while going for a walk so that the child can run around at will. In this way, the child can stay in physical exercise for a certain time every day.
- Ensure balanced nutrition for the child. Eat milk, eggs, fish, meat, fruits, and vegetables.
- Don’t let your child get addicted to digital screens.
But do not impose any work on the child. Serve nutritious food to the child’s liking. Encourage eating healthy foods and explain their various health benefits.
Sports and exercise should be done with joy. Do not scold a child for not growing as tall as you would like. Don’t taunt. Remember, there is no hard-and-fast rule that just doing something to increase height will increase one’s height.
