Nighttime sleep and hormonal variations

The prevalence of non-communicable or non-communicable diseases is increasing at present. These non-communicable diseases depend only on medicine.

Cannot be suppressed. To get a cure for such diseases, first of all, you have to change your lifestyle.

Sleep is an integral part of a lifestyle. The body needs adequate sleep to boost its immune system, which should be in the dark of night, never in daylight. When the night falls, there are several changes in the release of hormones in the body. If you do not sleep at night, the balance of these hormones is lost.

Melatonin is the hormone

Melatonin regulates our sleep cycle. Melatonin is not secreted during daylight hours. Melatonin is released at night, allowing us to sleep. Melatonin also acts as an antioxidant. Cortisol decreases when melatonin levels increase.

Growth hormone

This hormone is very important for the physical growth of children. Growth hormone is most secreted in the first hours of the night while sleeping. So nighttime sleep is very important for growing children. Along with that, proper eating habits should be developed.

Thyroid hormone

Thyroid hormones are an important regulator of physical and mental development in children. This hormone is very important for everyone, not just children. An imbalance of thyroid hormones can cause a variety of physical problems. Weight gain or loss, high or low blood pressure, irregular periods, skin problems, and many more. One of the causes of thyroid hormone imbalance is a lack of sleep at night.

Cortisol hormone

The cortisol hormone helps us digest glucose. It creates a feeling of hunger and helps to wake up in the morning. The cortisol hormone is released from the adrenal gland. It is also called a stress hormone. Lack of sleep at night leads to an imbalance of the cortisol hormone. It causes diabetes, heart disease, and long-term diseases of the digestive system.

Insulin

Our most familiar hormone is insulin. If insulin is deficient in the body, the blood sugar increases. If you don’t sleep properly at night, sugar rises as stress hormones are released more in the morning. Increases insulin resistance.

Antidiuretic hormone

Antidiuretic hormone is also released at night. As a result, we do not have to wake up at night to urinate. This physiological mechanism helps us to sleep very well. A good night’s sleep balances other hormones. The release of this hormone is also highly dependent on your diet.

Apart from this, there are many other hormones that are released more during nighttime sleep. Like prolactin, oxytonin. They are called love hormones. As a result, we are attracted to each other. Apart from this, night sleep is also very important to maintain the proper rhythm of testosterone and progesterone hormones.

What to do

Adults need at least 6–8 hours of sleep every day. Time is longer for children. You have to sleep in the darkness of the night. Another hormone in our body has an impact on the actions of other hormones. It has a rhythm. Therefore, if any one hormone is out of balance, other hormones can also be out of balance.
