How much salt and sugar should be in the diet?

Salt and sugar are an integral part of our diet. However, excess salt and sugar are ‘poison’ for the body. So how much salt and sugar should be in our diet? And high blood pressure patients are forbidden to eat eggs?

Salt

It is not right to eat salt separately. Our daily salt requirement is 2,300 mg, which can be met only through dietary salt intake. Hypertensive patients should be especially careful about this.

Sugar

Excess sugar and sweet foods are also dangerous for the body. Such food increases weight because high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol settle in the body.

Diabetes patients should eat as little sweet food as possible, but not at all. This is wrong. And white sugar is really harmful. There are hidden sugars in our daily foods, so it’s okay not to eat sugary foods.

Egg

There is a very popular idea that patients with high blood pressure should not eat egg yolks. A boiled egg usually contains 78 calories, which is relatively low compared to many other foods. An adult person can comfortably eat one egg per day. Egg white is very beneficial for the body. It contains a type of protein called albumin, which is essential for immunity. Those who have high cholesterol can regularly eat the white part of the egg, except the yolk. However, such patients should not eat eggs fried in oil.
