There is no alternative to bathing for cleanliness. But how to take a bath in the winter can keep the child away from colds, coughs, and pneumonia, and the cleanliness of the child is also right; these two aspects should be carefully observed. This warning is even more useful for newborns.
Generally, a newborn is a child less than 28 days old. Parents should give a newborn its first bath 72 hours after birth, regardless of the season. Bathe a newborn two or three days a week. After that, once the newborn grows a little bigger, it can be bathed every day.
Keeping babies warm is important at any time, even more so in the winter. Due to the low air humidity at this time, the skin remains dry, and various types of skin infections can occur.
For this reason, it is better to bathe children over one year of age every day if they do not have symptoms of pneumonia or a cold. In cases of extreme cold, bathing can be done every one or two days.If bathing every day is not possible, sponge the baby’s body well by soaking a towel in lukewarm water.
Things to keep in mind while bathing a baby in the winter
- Bathing the baby at the same time every day develops discipline in the child. It develops discipline in the child. The child may become irritable if bathed while eating or sleeping. This can make the child irritable.
- Care should be taken that the baby’s bathing place is warm. Cold air cannot enter there.
- Before bathing, you can apply a natural oil to the baby. If the baby has a skin problem, the oil should not be applied without the doctor’s advice.
- The water should not be cold or too hot. Bathe the baby in lukewarm water. Before putting water on the baby, it should be checked to see if it is too hot or not.
- Do not bathe the baby for a long time. 5 to 10 minutes of bathing are enough for the baby!
- Keep the clothes that the baby will wear after bathing close at hand, so you can put them on as soon as you wipe them off.
- Heads and ears should be wiped thoroughly after bathing. Care should be taken so that water does not enter the ear.
- Care should be taken to ensure that there is no water in the hair. If the hair is long, you need to pay more attention to it. Because, even if the body is dry, the baby may catch a cold due to wet hair.
- After bathing, apply an age-appropriate moisturizer to the baby’s skin to prevent it from drying out and becoming flaky.
- A child should never be allowed to go near the water alone for bathing under any circumstances.
